It had a great roster of fighters, seriously addictive gameplay and it felt really weighty, the combat was satisfying as hell, there was five fighting styles in the game kickboxing, street fighting, martial arts, wrestling, and submissions and each one was something you had to master, the combo moves were crazy as well and obviously each fighter fights differently so it's not just the styles you have to master, then on top of that you have the interaction with the environments, slamming someone up against a wall, using weapons from the crowd, things breaking apart as you throw people into them, I could go on and on. Then Fight For NY came out and made Vendetta look dated in comparison, the fighting went up a level, the finishing moves were brutal and more importantly, the story was, for a fighting game, pretty damn good, the soundtrack was probably one of the best I have ever heard in a fighting game as well.
